SEVENTEEN is a K-Pop band formed by Pledis Entertainment in Seoul in 2015. It was formed with 13 members: S. Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. It is also divided into 3 teams: A Hip-hop team (S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, & Vernon); a vocal team (Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, DK, & Seungkwan), and a performance team (Jun, Hoshi, The8, & Dino). It also has evolved to include two sub-units: BSS (DK, Senugkwan, & Hoshi) and JxW (Jeoghan & Wonwoo). The name of the band is derived by adding 1 (referring to the group as a whole), 3 (referring to the 3 teams), and 13 (referring to the 13 members) together to get SEVENTEEN. The sub-units are not included in this equation as they evolved after the group was formed.
