What an experience!! Made a last-minute decision on Friday, and headed out on our way, not expecting to get in. We were going to scope it out then go down to NYC. When we got there, we were met with a roadblock into Saugerties and you needed either proof that you lived within the boundaries, or a concert ticket. We had neither. We paid a guy 10 bucks to park at his house 2 miles up the road (he gave us a ride back to the checkpoint), then paid another guy in a pickup truck $5 to drive us in to the front gate so we didn't have to wait for busses. That was 8 miles in. When we go in, much to our surprise, we found a break in the fence and walked through it and low and behold...we were in! Free! We only stayed for the one full day which was the best day in my opinion. And as we were taking the long road (11 miles) back to the car, we heard the final band, which was Aerosmith, playing. Had I been more into my concerts back then, I would have stayed for at least a few songs so I could say I'd seen them.
