This is exactly what I remember even though it was more than 20 years ago!!

Type O Negative opened up for Pantera.

If you've ever been to a Pantera show, especially in Dallas, you know the crowd shows up for them.

During Type O Negative, the floor crowd realized that the floor was just astroturf, covering plywood, covering the ice the the Dallas Hawks hockey team played on.

Sooooo.....up comes the turf and plywood. And some start sliding on the ice.

Type O Negative finishes up and the crowd is having more fun with the plywood and ice.

Some take the plywood and start passing it on top of the crowd...towards the stage. It would come crashing down on some poor unsuspecting soul because they were mostly facing towards the stage.

Then....this one guy climbs up on top of the plywood while people are holding it up......he finally gets up and then he jumps in the air and does this surfer pose on the top and then dives off of it.

The crowd went NUTS!! Like a home run or a slam dunk in sports....just yelling and screaming!! And every guy that was near the plywood was trying to climb in top of it!! It looked like a zombie movie!! 🤣

Pantera comes out and lights the place up!! They even stopped the show to shoot for a video. They redid Fucking Hostile a few times and then did take of certain parts of that song.

It was really cool.

Then....at one point in the show, Peter Steel, from Type O, comes out on the stage! He as a hockey stick in his hands and walks out and Darrel (Pantera guitar player) and Phil (lead singer) immediately head to the left side of the stage, as far away as they could get from that big ass Mf'er!!!

Peter Steel is like 6'8" and looks mean as hell!!

So...I'm guessing he was bored and thought he would go out on stage during Pantera's set.

He walks up to one of the standing mics and starts playing air guitar with the hockey stick and acting like he's singing whatever Pantera was playing at the time!! Fucking hilarious because he's soooo BIG nobody is really gonna F with him. The band wanted nothing to do with that guy even though they portray like they are these badasses!!

They are not that big!!! 🤣

So this continues until they finally find someone that can handle this guy!!

A biker dude, just as big as Peter Steele, walks out on stage, walks right up to him and stand in front of him.

I wish I could have heard this conversation. It seemed to go on forever. I was so excited!!! I thought I was going to see these GIANT MEN go at it on stage right there in front of everyone, while PANTERA WAS PLAYING!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

I screaming at the top of my lungs!!! KICK HIS AAAAAASSSSSS!!!!

🤣

Peter Steele finally walked off stage. No fight.

The show went on and they started throwing shirts on the plywood and set it on fire.

It was a crazy night. When we left the Coliseum, there was probably every cop and fire truck in the city was there.

They almost shut down the show. That would have been another mistake made that night!!!

That was one of the craziest shows I've ever been too.....

Then I went to see NIN the next week and it was crazier than THAT show!!!! 😝😝😝

Is there really only one comment on this show? It was a friggin madhouse of chaos everywhere you looked. Except for that one section between the center red line and the blue line closest to the stage. That section had two or three plywood boards width (8' or 12') X three plywood board lengths(24') long. That section was full of 6 yr old dressed as adults in concert gear shuffling counter clockwise slowly with smiles on their faces while looking around at anarchy.
Bonus, my Buddy and I were close to the stage after Type O- but before Pantera when I saw the first piece of plywood crash into the base of my Bro's skull. I could only get "Loo..^ before he dropped like a string less marionette. Best show of all time!!!!

I was in the bleacher seats. This show was in a hockey rink. There was a game the next day, so they covered the ice in a layer of plywood covered by heavy canvas tarps. About midway through Pantera shredding it up the audience somehow discovered this setup and began pulling the plywood boards up from the ice rink and crowd surfing on them. This seemed pretty cool at first and it was an awesome spectacle! However, as patches began to open up on the ice, it became a skating event with people sliding around on the ice. That's when someone got the idea of setting fire to one of the plywood boards in the middle of the ice, as the crowd began pulling up all of the wood and throwing onto the ever growing bonfire. Within a matter of a few minutes the fire had grown to a fairly large bonfire in the middle of the ice and smoke was filling the coliseum. That was the end of the show, as the fire marshal and police cleared the entire building. Show over!
