As with all my early shows, the ticket stub (autographed) was stolen so I don't have all the finer details, but it was certainly memorable being my first show, and point in life I miss, wishing I could revisit, so I could carpe the diem with the fierceness & knowledge I have now. I was 15 and hanging out with my most dedicated concert brother, horror writer, makeup artist, and all-around extreme badass, Jason Hughes. I was a card carrying member of the Anthrax Fan Club and after the show I presented my card to one of the security dudes. He smiled, walked to the back for a minute and then welcomed us to a backstage area where we met with Scott Ian and Charlie Benante. It was a total blur but I remember they were both positive and encouraging spirits as anyone who knows this band would expect they would be. This truly spoiled me being my first metal concert ever, expecting all bands were this cool and eventually I would learn that lesson but not before learning not to stand too close to the PA stacks at an Anthrax show. It felt like I had two massive cotton balls dangling from my eardrums after this one. Naive & Ignorant doesn't even begin to explain.
