Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Perform Together

Bands:

Ringo Starr
Location:

It was Ringo's 70th Birthday. Bought ticket from a guy that had an extra pair. Zak Starkey, Yoko Ono, and other celebs had already gone on-stage and presented Ringo with a birthday cake. The screens turned off but the house lights stayed off and stage was semi-dark. I was on the floor but in the back sections. All of a sudden you hear a murmur from the front that starts spreading and turns into a roar. The screens flicker back on and you see Paul McCartney! And then his hofner bass. My heart is already thumping and I rush forward down the aisle leaving my purse at my seat. Paul starts playing Birthday and the place is going wild and just then you see Ringo sprint back on stage from the wings and clamber up to the drum set just as the song is starting to pick up. And then the place really does go completely insane. I tried to get even closer but a security guy grabbed me by my skirt.
To there in that moment, I was just mesmerized.
The song ended and they hugged and Paul said "I love you man" with such tenderness. I was stunned and had tears freely streaming down my face - I couldn't believe it had happened. Completely by surprise. For someone born after John's murder, this was the closest I could ever get to a Beatles "reunion" and I had been there for it.
