According to the Dallas Morning News website, on August 18, 1973 at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas, Texas, Elton John headlined the third annual Cotton Bowl Spectacular with songs from his soon-to-be-released album, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” The opening act that night was Steely Dan. I don't see this concert on either your Elton John or Steely Dan lists.
