We (Brian Roman, Joe Gillette and myself) went up to Georgetown to see Joe's cousin Norman Lawson. He was playing second guitar to Scott "Wino" Weinrich in (The) Obsessed. Norman had previously been with Link Wray and Overlord; and Obsessed was soon to be a four piece (minus Norman). That notwithstanding, their charismatic frontman, Vance Bockis (late of Overlord and briefly with Pentagram) exploded onto the stage reminiscent of Alex in "A Clockwork Orange". It was a most jolting introduction (considering I'd seen Vance perform previously on two occasions). I remember he blew through the audience like the Tasmanian Devil - upsetting glasses, pitchers of beer and over-turning tables...Jesus Christ! He was giving Lux Interior a run for his money. They ran through numerous Sex Pistols covers, originals and the Dead Kennedy's "Too Drunk To Fuck" for good measure. The Obsessed weren't invited back. If you've seen The Obsessed later on and think you'd seen some revelation...you probably did. But if you missed this show - too bad for you because this was the real "Fuckin' Shit" - I kid you not!
