Apocalyptic Love Tour Dec 2, 2012 (12 years ago) The Wiltern Los Angeles, California, United States
The sound shoulda been better. It was a last minute show for Slash's friend's birthday at The Wiltern Theater, a very small and old theater from the 'Golden Years of Hollywood'. I saw the ad on a YT vid of "Gotten" by Slash and Adam Levine a week before the show. Slash was great! His blues solo was magical and his guitar still sang to me (like the first time I heard GN'R in 1987 on KNAC) but we couldn't hear Myles very well. The drums were overpowering but I got to see Slash again, sober. There were 3 opening acts but I don't recall their names, one was pretty good. I saw Guns N' Roses in Sept 1988 at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa, California. They were notoriously wasted and not very good. I always dreamed I'd see them again when they grew up and got sober. I became disabled in 95 and I couldn't go to concerts anymore, they were a huge part of my life. Because The Wiltern was close to a hotel were we stayed so I got to see another concert! I was smitten with Slash the first time I heard his guitar on the radio. I haven't been physically able to see their recent reunited shows but I sure hope I can... been dreaming of it for fucking 34 years.
