This was a gig by The Catherine Wheel, but I went as I was a fan of The God Machine who were meant to be the support act, but also because I knew the singer with the opening act (Tangle Web from nearby Nuneaton). When the God Machine pulled out, Radiohead were brought in for the rest of Catherine Wheel’s tour. Though I saw them a couple more times over the next year and wasn’t impressed (as Yorke hit a girl during his set in Loughborough), I have to admit that they were impressive at this Coventry gig.
