Speak Of The Devil Tour For the first time that I saw OZZY, unfortunately it was almost a year to the date that Randy Rhoads was tragically killed in a small plane crash in Florida. I had chances to see the Late, Great Randy, but never got to. The first year my brother and I went to Phoenix to visit Dad in 1981, OZZY was just starting out and was playing a gig down there. My brother asked me if I wanted to go to OZZY and ignorant me, didn't even know who OZZY was. At that point in my life, KISS and Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent was my favorites. So, needless to say, I didn't go to that show. Then back home in Nebraska, OZZY played Omaha 50 miles away a month before the accident. It was snowing pretty hard and being in 9th Grade, Mom wouldn't let me go. By then I was a huge OZZY fan and had both albums. So, my first OZZY concert was with brand new guitarist Jake E. Lee. And for this concert, it was the first time I ever won tickets off the radio, and on a rotary phone no less.
