Jul 18, 1993 (31 years ago) John F. Kennedy Stadium Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
Lollapalooza ’93 originally featured Alice in Chains as the tour’s headlining act. However Perry Farrell intervened and bumped up Primus as co-headliner and final performer of the night. This was the first Lollapalooza tour with two headlining bands. Tool was initially a second stage act, but was brought to the main stage after Babes in Toyland left the tour. Fishbone became the first band to perform on the main stage on multiple Lollapalooza tours, having played a couple of shows in the 1991 tour. Rage Against The Machine was the first band to perform on the main stage after having played the second stage on a previous year’s tour. NOTE: JFK Stadium was demolished in 1992. The Lollapalooza concert took place at the ground site where the stadium once stood.
