Four Decades of Rock Tour Jul 27, 2013 (11 years ago) Del Mar Fairgrounds Del Mar, California, United States
A month ago I heard on the radio that Sammy Hagar was having a free concert at the Del Mar Fairgrounds after horse racing so I got some general admiration tickets for that day. The show was great. Sammy’s tour is going to consist of his over 40 years in rock. The first song was Play Station #5 and then his next couple songs were from his Montrose era after that he went into his early solo stuff starting with Red and ending with 3 lock box at that time he went into Van Halen era of his career starting with a different version of Right Now through Finish What Ya Started. Next he played some new songs that I don’t know the names of because the album does not come out for 2 more months. After that he played solo stuff after the Van Halen years, ending the concert with Moss Tequila and When Eagles Fly. The concert was great it was one of Sammy’s best shows that I have seen in a while I really enjoyed it. This is different but the highlight of the show for me was not the memories the songs brought up but something else. During the show my cell phone started to vibrate so I looked to see who was calling and it was Mo’s Nephew Jeff Aquino (he is in the navy in training) I look at the phone and it is a text from Jeff saying Sammy with a picture, the picture was around the same location where we are at. I text back to him “we are here too” with a picture from our location, he sent back a smiley face. After the show we looked for each other and we talked for a few minutes that was the highlight of the show for me knowing our Nephew was at the same concert we were at and he like the same music.
