Feb 11, 2016 (9 years ago) The Fire Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
On January 10th 2016, the legendary musician and artist David Bowie passed away at the age of 69 after a long battle with liver cancer. The world took to the web to mourn the loss of an individual with immeasurable influence within pop culture. David Bowie’s legacy did not leave Philadelphia untouched given that Philadelphia is where the majority of his 1975 album Young Americans was recorded; an album that received mixed reviews and not only alienated his original UK audience but also produced Bowie’s first Number One Hit in the United States “Fame” (co-written with John Lennon). Philadelphia is paying tribute to the artistic output of David Bowie in many ways; but none so impressive and inclusive as the upcoming David Bowie Tribute Night live at The Fire as an installment of the popular Northern Liberties Winter Music Festival on Thursday, February 11th. Over a dozen artists from the Philadelphia music community spanning over many different styles of music will be paying homage to Mr. Stardust through a wide selection of songs showcasing the wide diversity of his musical catalogue; including songs from the feature film Labyrinth. Anyone of legal drinking age is more than welcome to sing along at The Fire this February with the spectacular local lineup including Bryant Eugene Vazquez, Travel Lanes, Andrew Lipke, Vilebred, Those People, Effusion 35, Red Skiles & The Country Ramblers, Alright Junior, The Daylight Savings and Loan, Valkyrians, Warzawa, Betty Iron Thumbs and B-Flan. Doors open at 8pm and the cost of admission is an affordable $8
