Sorry googled who made announcement Nixon resigned. Says Nash made that announcement at CSNY concert.
I was at this concert. I don't remember who made the announcement, but I definitely remember the joyful, raucous reaction of the audience. I thought they broke into "Ohio," but that was a LONG time ago, and I may be wrong.
In looking for something related to the August 8, 1974 CSNY concert, I saw the previous comments. The concert was Thursday, August 8, not the 9th. It was the evening of August 8th that Nixon announce from the Oval Office that he would resign the following day, effective as of noon. Nixon's speech was at 9pm on August 8, in the middle of the concert.
Pretty sure "Nixon Resigned" was announced by Nash. CSNY wanted to do acoustic set during show but had to abbreviate it due to crowd being too loud and CSNY not being able to hear themselves.
Actually was not Neil Young but Davis Crosby…Quote “ Fuckin’ Nixon resigned man” and then broke into Carry On….
Correct Aug.9th, didn't realize Stills was such a great guitarist before this show.
The actual date of the concert is August 9, 1974. The night Nixon resigned. The band left the stage at 9:00pm to go watch the resignation on TV and they returned to fireworks and jammed on.
Nixon resigned announced by Neil Young
