Bruce Springsteen’s first ever appearance at the Carrier Dome was big and loud. The Dome shook over two nights, James T. Mulder wrote, like it usually did for slam dunks and touchdowns. “There, he was. The Boss. The rock star of ‘80s,” Mulder wrote. “Finally, popular culture’s equivalent of the Syracuse-Nebraska football game was at the Dome.” “Springsteen and The E Street Band churned it out for their usual three-and-a-half hours, cruising smoothly between hot rockers and harmonica-driven ballads,” reviewer Russell Tarby wrote of the first night’s show.
