The setlist for this show was songs for "Reckoning" which came out a few months later (April). (They did not play any previous hits such as "Radio Free Europe.") The audience had never heard these songs before.
See the R.E.M. timeline for Reflection Sounds Studio Jan. 9-18, Charlotte, for possible setlist. https://www.remtimeline.com/1984...
REM's benefit concert tonight at the Moonshadow Saloon is sold out and a club spokesman said there is no chance of a second performance being added. "The band actually is taking some time off now and is just doing this show because it's a benefit for the Legal Environmental Assistance Foundation," a spokesman for the club said. "We'd like to have a second show, but there's just no way to schedule it." The club, which has unreserved seating, plans to open at 7 p.m. with opening act U. V. Prom playing from 9:30 until 10:15. R.E.M. is scheduled to go on at 11 p.m. -Russ DeVault 31 Jan 1984 The Atlanta Journal Page 29
