1. Under the moniker MARIS, Brussels vocalist Mariske Broeckmeyer creates blistering pop that is as much inspired by jazz and improvisation as by the atmospheric experiment of the Scandinavian scene. Sound and voice, experiment and song alternate and complement each other in a musical musing that is as cinematic as it is intoxicating. “By Virtue Of The Absurd” is an album that follows its own set of rules - and is therefore imbued with that typically searching jazz spirit.
