While Billy Connolly is perhaps best known as an actor and stand-up comedian, he is also a skilled musician. Between 1965 and 1971, he was a member of the folk-rock band The Humblebums. After the Humbelbums broke up, Connolly continued as a solo performer. During the 1970s, he often incorporated music and comedy together. In 1975, he covered Sheb Wooley's parody of "D-I-V-O-R-C-E" by Tammy Wynette, and in 1979 released "In The Brownies," a parody of "In the Navy" by the Village People. From the 1980s, he mostly focused on comedy and acting, though he occasionally released covers as well as original work, including two instrumental albums between 1995 and 2005. He retired from comedy in 2018, though he continues acting as a television host and appearing in documentaries about himself.
