Not only was this my first rock concert at the LA Forum, my understanding is, it was also thee first rock concert at the LA Forum, in 1968. The Doors debuted
‘Touch Me’ on this evening. Elektra Records were selling the 45 single in the lobby before it went on sale to the public. The concert was dubbed, The Celebration of The Lizard.
Sweetwater were a good supporting act, but unfortunately the hippies weren’t to enthusiastic about Jerry Lee Lewis, he was heckled and booed from the stage and walked off, not before giving everybody his middle finger though.
What can I say about The Doors that hasn’t been said, I was probably 14 or 15 years old, and I thought The Doors were amazing. I especially liked being in the middle of all these hippies, the vibe was uplifting and spiritual. I couldn’t wait for my next concert.
