A decade after he first played bass in the pre-Weezer outfit Sixty Wrong Sausages with Rivers Cuomo and Patrick Wilson, Portland-based Pat Finn helped pal Karl Koch -- better known as Weezer's webmaster/historian/fifth member -- christen his Amorphous Records label with the eponymous 2001 debut of Organic Mechanic. Initiated with the rhythmic "Star You Are," the quartet -- which also features Joe Cunningham, Norm Buccola, and Talbott Guthrie in unspecified roles -- comes off sounding like an erratic, horn-obsessed Steely Dan.
